About Total-MMA

Total-MMA was created in 2005 by Iain Liddle and Ross McTavish, two kind lads from the UK who combined their passions for writing and MMA into a newsletter and radio show. Some interviews with top figures of the MMA world were featured, but opinion pieces were always our focus.

Ross left the project in 2006 to focus on Scottish football, but Iain and Jonathan Snowden picked it back up in late 2007 and Total-MMA.com was reborn, first as a newsletter and then a daily blog. Dave Walsh would next serve as editor.

Tommy Hackett, one of Total-MMA’s original writers, took over as editor in 2009. Version 3.0 of Total-MMA continued to offer opinions pieces, fight analysis, and the occassional interview segment, to help “complete the perspective” for fans of the combative sports. We continued our tradition of representing either side of the Atlantic; with Jacob Lawton, Philip Simkins, and David Bateman in the UK, and Tommy Hackett and Bryan Belangia in the US.

At the conclusion of 2010, Tommy decided to step away from writing for Total-MMA to focus on a book project with Enson Inoue.

Total-MMA relaunched in February 2011, with a new staff and a new format as a daily blog. Among the regular contributors at this time were Ajit Punj and George Do.

We’ve slowed a bit, but are continuing to offer occassional commentary and predictions pieces — and hope you enjoy the archives as well. If you are interested in writing please contact us.

Your comments are invited, and we hope you enjoy the site!

    To whom it may concern

I am a co promotor of Scottish Fight Challenge, (SFC) a mixed martial arts organisation which features shows at Stirling Alberts Halls.
I am running my second show in as many months, following the success of the first show, “the Brave” in February.

The next show is on June 27th in the Albert Halls, Stirling, with 11 professional fights, 4 Semi Pro and 2 Amateur bouts.

I wanted to speak about possibly getting a feature for the show, as i am actually affiliating the show to the Armed Services, and in association with Help for Hero’s.

The date of the show falls on the weekend of Army day, and i have agreed with the squadron commander that there will be Scot’s Guards at the show, doing strength and conditioning exercising outside ( pull up competitions) and the like, and hopefully a Warrior tank on display!!

I am aiming to raise money for Help for Hero’s while also supporting the Armed services.

My show will have a capacity of around 800-1000 people, and i am hoping to get a good reception to my proposals!

If you could be of help in anyway i would appreciate it, or if you would like to attend the event, or couple help me in anyway for the charity, i would be appreciated.

    Best regards

    Chris

Why did you guys change your rankings? I really miss that you used to go 100 deep per division? Whenever I would see news on a guy I didn’t know, I would come here to see if they were top 100, and where they train.

  5. Tommy Hackett Says:

Yeah, the guy who did our rankings in the past eventually just kind of melted down, as near as I can tell.

We’re not in touch anymore, but I wish him the best.

Our new rankings may not go as deep, but Bryan offers his reasons after each entry, which I find to be a good trade-off. It’s more to my interest than listing middle-of-the-road MMA pro’s by the hundreds. His top ten makes a lot more sense to me as well, but then, this is a matter of opinion.

    Thanks for reading, Argyle.
