Hideo Tokoro vs. Takeshi Yamazaki added to Dream.5

Posted by Marc Staehling on July 15th, 2008

FEG have announced a new addition to this weekend’s upcoming Dream.5 fightcard. In what might prove to be a bout where the winner moves on to face KID Yamamoto later this year, Hideo Tokoro takes on Takeshi Yamazaki in the 64kg/141lb weight-class.

This will be Tokoro’s second bout with Dream, his first being a show-stealing performance against Darren Uyenoyama in June. Tokoro is no stranger to exciting fights, having fight of the year candidates against Masahiro Oishi in 2003, Alexandre Franca Nogueira in 2005 and Ivan Menjivar in 2006. The “Cinderella Boy” Tokoro has largely fought up a weight class, including a recent fight against middleweight Kiyoshi Tamura, but appears to have settled in to Dream’s newly created featherweight division.

Grabaka fighter Takeshi Yamazaki also makes his second Dream appearance here, after taking a decision over Pancrase champ Shoji Maruyama at Dream.3 in May. Yamazaki has largely fought in DEEP in recent years including a bout with Masakazu Imanari in late 2006.

This has all the ingredients for a show-stealing bout, and is just one more reason to watch this card.

Dream.5 airs live on HD-Net in the United States and Canada late Sunday night/early Monday morning 11pm Pacific/2am Eastern.
