Betting Preview - Farrow - 6th June 08

It’s a gambling wonderland in Britain this weekend. Tomorrow is Derby day with a side helping of UFC in the evening. I’m not giving tips on the gee-gees but instead I’m looking at two MMA matches and a boxing match which I hope will turn around my slow decline.

A continuing theme with my betting is that I am either being too conservative on one bet or not conservative enough. I’m an idiot for backing Baroni, especially given how good odds I could have got on Villasenor. Torres was a no-brainer but Maeda gave him a good run until his eye swelled shut. This week, I’m going to be foolhardy I think.

MARCUS DAVIS vs. Mike Swick - Pinnacle Sports - £30 @ +106 (2.06)
In a fight that seemingly no handicapper wants to set fair odds for, Pinnacle stick their necks out on this one and favoured Swick. Davis is on a long winning streak but Swick represents the toughest test he’s faced since… well Melvin Guillard I’d say. Still, I don’t think Swick looks comfortable at this weight and Davis has shown excellent hands and an ever-rounding game.
JESS LIAUDIN vs. Paul Taylor - Pinnacle Sports - £20 @ +206 (3.06)
I really like Liaudin at this price. Good submissions, decent on his feet and I feel that Taylor will get shown up on the ground. Liaudin’s real weakness is ground and pound and I don’t see that from Taylor. I just don’t think Taylor’s a big enough…. anything to be this heavily favoured.
SOULEYMANE M’BAYE vs. Herman Ngoudjo - Skybet - £30 @ 3.25 (+225)
Gut feeling is one of life’s mysteries but I can’t help but think that Souleymane M’Baye is going to continue his career rehabilitation after the humiliating loss to a Welsh midget. It could go either way in my mind but M’Baye’s odds are so long that I can’t help but place some money on him.
