MMA Curmudgeon: Ken Shamrock is a fraud

Last night Ken Shamrock went out like a bitch. He took a glancing jab and decided to call it a night, Bob Sapp style. It should have come as no surprise. Ken Shamrock has always been kind of a bitch. Even during the formative years of MMA, when men were men, Shamrock was nothing more than a marketing gimmick with abs and a tight Speedo. This is a guy who was so afraid of 170 pound Royce Gracie that he hid in his guard for 30 minutes. Was so afraid of Oleg Taktarov that he held him in a tender embrace for 30 minutes.
When Ken made his triumphant return from the fake professional wrestling, he hadn’t magically grown a pair of nuts. All he had learned there was how to be dependent on drugs to get through life. When he fought in Japan for Pride, it was the same old Ken Shamrock. Who can forget his famous loss to Kaz Fujita? It wasn’t a hard right hand or a choke that put him down. It was, say it together, “Petey! My Heart!” Shamrock had been beaten by an inability to perform 10 minutes of cardiovascular activity.
If last night was Ken’s final fight, it was fitting. He went out of NHB the same way he came into it: with a rock hard body and a confused look on his face.
